Stalker (Ranger Kit)

Stalkers serve as covert intelligence-gatherers, comfortable in both wilderness and urban settings. They are the spies, informants, and interrogators — and their mastery of stealth makes them deadly opponents.

Advantages

  • +20% to Move Silently and Hide in Shadows.
  • May use Backstab, at a lower multiplier than Thieves:
    • Level 1–8: ×2
    • Level 9–16: ×3
    • Level 17+: ×4
  • 12th level: May memorize three Mage spells — Haste, Protection from Normal Missiles, and Minor Spell Deflection.

Disadvantages

  • May not wear armor heavier than studded leather.

When to pick it

  • A Backstabbing Ranger with druid spells is unusually versatile — opening with a stealthed two-handed sword backstab is very strong in BG2.
  • The 12th-level Mage spells are an exceptional bonus when you reach Throne of Bhaal.
