Gnome¶
Kin to dwarves, gnomes are noticeably smaller than their distant cousins — and, as they proudly maintain, less rotund. Most have dark tan or brown skin, white hair, and rather large noses. They have a lively and sly sense of humor and a penchant for practical jokes. Their love for nature is matched only by their love of gems and jewelry.
Gnomes have two racial subdivisions: rock gnomes and deep gnomes (svirfneblin).
Traits¶
- +1 Intelligence, –1 Wisdom.
- +2 bonus to Saving Throws vs. Rod/Staff/Wand and Spell — with additional bonuses based on Constitution.
- Infravision.
- Thieving bonuses: +15% Pick Pockets, +15% Open Locks, +15% Find Traps, +10% Move Silently, +15% Hide in Shadows, +10% Detect Illusion, +5% Set Traps.
Strengths¶
- The only race that can multi-class into a specialist Mage (Illusionist).
- Excellent saves vs. wand and spell.
- High Intelligence bonus benefits Mage class.
Weaknesses¶
- Wisdom penalty hurts priest spell access and mind-affecting saves.
- Cannot select most warrior-only races' kits.
