Elf¶
Elves tend to be shorter and slimmer than humans. Their features are finely chiseled and delicate, and they speak in melodic tones. They concern themselves with natural beauty, dancing, frolicking, and other similar pursuits. Their humor is clever, as are their songs and poetry.
The Realms know six elven sub-races: gold elves, moon elves, wild elves, sea elves, drow (dark elves), and avariel (winged elves).
Traits¶
- +1 Dexterity, –1 Constitution.
- 90% resistance against charm and sleep magics.
- Unaffected by Raise Dead.
- Infravision.
- +1 THAC0 bonus with bows, short swords, and long swords.
- Thieving bonuses: +20% Pick Pockets, +5% Open Locks, +5% Find Traps, +15% Move Silently, +15% Hide in Shadows.
Strengths¶
- Near-total immunity to charm and sleep makes elves powerful adventurers from level 1.
- Dexterity bonus is a flat AC and missile-to-hit improvement.
- Innate bow / short-sword / long-sword bonus stacks with class proficiencies.
Weaknesses¶
- Constitution penalty reduces hit points and Fortitude-style saves.
- Cannot be resurrected by Raise Dead (use Resurrection instead).
