Barbarian¶
A Barbarian can be an excellent warrior. While not as disciplined or as specialized as a Fighter, the Barbarian can willingly throw himself into a berserker rage — becoming a tougher and stronger opponent.
Class features¶
- Moves 2 points faster than other characters.
- Immune to Backstab.
- May use Rage once per day every 4 levels (1 use at 1st level):
- The enraged state lasts 5 rounds.
- +4 bonus to Strength and Constitution.
- –2 penalty to AC (an AC improvement).
- +2 bonus to save vs. spell.
- Immune to charm, hold, fear, maze, stun, sleep, confusion, and level drain.
- 11th level: gains 10% resistance to crushing, slashing, piercing, and missile damage.
- Levels 15 and 19: additional 5% resistance each.
- Hit Die: d12.
Restrictions¶
- May not wear armor heavier than splint mail.
- May not exceed Specialization (two slots) with any weapon.
When to pick it¶
- A durable, mobile front-liner — d12 Hit Die plus physical resistances make Barbarians enormously tough.
- The Rage immunities (especially charm/hold/maze) are some of the best in the game.
- Trades Fighter's Grand Mastery and armor flexibility for innate damage resistance and immunity to Backstab.
Kits¶
The Barbarian itself functions as a kit for the Fighter group; no further sub-kits are available in the base game manual.
