Elf

Elves are shorter and slimmer than humans. Their features are finely chiselled and delicate, and they speak in melodic tones. They are often looked upon as frivolous and aloof, concerning themselves with natural beauty, dancing, frolicking, and other similar pursuits.

Six racial divisions exist within the Realms: gold elves, moon elves, wild elves, sea elves, dark elves (drow), and winged elves (avariel).

Traits

  • +1 Dexterity, –1 Constitution.
  • 90% resistance against charm and sleep magics.
  • Infravision — see warm bodies as red shapes in darkness.
  • –1 THAC0 with bows, short swords, and long swords.
  • Thieving skill bonuses: +20% Pick Pockets, +5% Open Locks, +5% Find Traps, +15% Move Silently, +15% Hide in Shadows.

Strengths

  • Highest charm/sleep resistance in the game.
  • Bow and sword affinity makes elven Fighters, Rangers, and Bards superb missile users.
  • Excellent Hide in Shadows and Move Silently bonuses for stealth characters.

Weaknesses

  • Reduced Constitution lowers hit points.
  • Cannot dual-class (multi-classing is the only way to combine paths).
