Large Swords

Long Sword

Also known as double-edged, war, or military swords. There is no standard version — long swords vary in length from 35 to 47 inches, with blades taking up as much as 40 inches of the total. Most have a double-edged blade and a sharp point at the tip. Designed for slashing, not thrusting.

Two-Handed Sword

A derivative of the long sword. The blade is 6 feet long or more and the handle extended. Two hands are required to properly swing the sword.

Bastard Sword

Also known as the hand-and-a-half sword — named because it sits halfway between the two-handed sword and the long sword. Has a double-edged blade and a long grip; overall length ranges between 4 feet and 4 feet 10 inches.

Katana

A blade from far eastern lands, infrequently spotted in the Spine of the World. See also Exotic Weapons.

Scimitar

A curved sword. Druids may wield scimitars where other one-handed blades are forbidden.
