Axes¶

Throwing Axe¶

Also known as the hand axe or hatchet. The blade has a sharp steel tip counterbalanced by a pointed fluke; the short handle has a point at the bottom and the head may have a spike on top. Characters proficient with axes are also proficient with throwing axes — no extra slot required.

Strength damage bonus applies to throwing axes — see Combat Modifiers → Strength.

Battle Axe¶

The most common version is a stout pole about 4 feet long with a single-edged, trumpet-shaped blade mounted on one end. Battle axes are also called broad axes.
