Bounty Hunter (Thief Kit)

A hunter of men and women, Bounty Hunters are skilled in tracking quarry and bringing them back alive for lawful authorities or underworld masters. Specially trained for their task, they make fearsome opponents. Bounty Hunters have honed their trap-making abilities well beyond that of the average Thief.

Advantages

  • +15% bonus to Set Traps.
  • May use Set Special Snare in addition to the normal Thief's Set Snare. Gains one use at level 1, +1 use every 5 levels.
    • Set Special Snare: A trap that grows more powerful with level:
      • 1st level: 3d8+5 missile damage; target is slowed for 5 rounds if save vs. Spell at –4 fails.
      • 11th level: 4d8+5 missile damage; target is held for 5 rounds if save vs. Spell at –1 fails.
      • 16th level: Wraps the target in an Otiluke's Resilient Sphere for 7 rounds if save vs. Spell fails.
      • 21st level: Mazes the target.

Disadvantages

  • 20 skill points per level in thieving skills (vs. the Thief's 25).

When to pick it

  • Set Special Snare at level 21 mazes — a single Bounty Hunter can remove the most dangerous enemy from a fight before it starts.
  • The trap synergy with normal Set Snare lets the Bounty Hunter pre-rig chokepoints with two distinct traps per resting cycle.
