Dragon Disciple (Sorcerer Kit)

Dragon Disciples are powerful Sorcerers with dragons' blood somewhere in their lineage. Their natural magical talents bring out their draconic heritage, allowing them to cast powerful magical spells and exhibit dragon-like abilities.

Advantages

  • 1st level: +1 AC.
  • 3rd level: Breath Weapon (once per day):
    • A 30-ft. cone of flame in a 140-degree arc; 3d8 fire damage to all creatures caught.
  • 4th level: 25% innate Fire Resistance.
  • 5th level: +1 AC and +1 Constitution.
  • 6th level: Breath Weapon damage 4d8.
  • 8th level: Innate Fire Resistance 50%.
  • 9th level: Breath Weapon damage 5d8.
  • 10th level: +1 AC.
  • 12th level: Breath Weapon damage 6d8; Innate Fire Resistance 75%.
  • 15th level: Breath Weapon damage 7d8; +1 AC and +1 Constitution.
  • 16th level: Innate Fire Resistance 100%.
  • 18th level: Breath Weapon damage 8d8.
  • 20th level: +1 AC.
  • Hit Die: d6 (vs. d4 base Sorcerer).

Disadvantages

  • May cast one fewer spell per level per day than a standard Sorcerer.

When to pick it

  • The cumulative AC, HP, and fire resistance turn the normally fragile Sorcerer into something able to take front-line punishment.
  • The "one fewer spell per level" cost is significant — Dragon Disciples should pick their spell-known list extra carefully.
