Illusionist (Mage Kit)

A Mage who specializes in creating illusions to confuse and mislead — phantasms, blurs, and image-doubling effects.

Advantages

  • May memorize one additional spell of each level per day (once that level is unlocked).
  • Specializes in the Illusion/Phantasm school.
  • The only specialist a gnome may multi-class into.

Disadvantages

  • Opposed schools: Necromancy, Abjuration — cannot scribe or cast any spell from these schools.

When to pick it

  • The Illusionist's spells are some of the best defensive options in the game (Blur, Mirror Image, Improved Invisibility, Project Image, Shadow Door).
  • The gnome multi-class exception makes this the only kit available to Fighter/Mage, Cleric/Mage, and Mage/Thief multi-class characters.
