Skald (Bard Kit)

This Nordic Bard is also a warrior of great strength, skill, and virtue. His songs are inspiring sagas of battle and valor, and the Skald devotes his life to those pursuits.

Advantages

  • +1 bonus to-hit and damage rolls.
  • The Skald's song differs from the typical Bard's, and effects vary with level:
    • 1st level: grants allies +2 to-hit and damage, and –2 AC (an AC improvement).
    • 15th level: grants allies +4 to-hit and damage, –4 AC, and immunity to fear.
    • 20th level: grants allies +4 to-hit and damage, –4 AC, and immunity to fear, stun, and confusion.

Disadvantages

  • Only one quarter the normal Pick Pockets score.

When to pick it

  • The party-buff specialist — a Skald singing keeps every front-liner at peak performance.
  • Modest personal bonus to-hit and damage makes the Skald usable as a secondary melee combatant.
