Miscellaneous Wearables¶
Slot-using accessories beyond armor and shields. Most are non-magical by default, but identical-looking magical variants exist throughout the world.
Amulets¶
Jewelry — sometimes magical — worn around the neck, suspended from a chain. The type of chain may add to the item's aesthetic value but does not affect its magical properties. Only one amulet can be worn at a time.
Boots¶
Common boots are made by cobblers using a generic form; good ones are designed for the specific feet that will wear them. Magical boots — boots of speed, boots of grounding — are a staple find.
Bracers¶
Thick bands of metal or leather strapped, belted, or tied to a character's forearm. Magical bracers commonly grant AC bonuses or to-hit bonuses with specific weapon types.
Cloak¶
Cloaks can be made in nearly any shape with just about every type of fabric. The most common form is a circular piece of fabric with a head hole, draped from the neck and held by a chain, brooch, cord, or pins. Magical cloaks typically grant AC, save bonuses, or protection from specific effects.
Gauntlets¶
Armored gloves — leather, metal plate, or chain mail. Every suit of armor is assumed to include gauntlets of an appropriate type. Magical gauntlets tend to be finer, lighter, and more easily worn than normal varieties (e.g. gauntlets of dexterity, gauntlets of weapon skill).
Girdles¶
Similar to belts. Unlike belts, girdles are not used to hold up pants — they carry pouches, scabbards, and the like. Magical girdles often grant Strength bonuses.
Helmets¶
Reinforced leather or metal cover most of the head — face and neck excluded.
Tip
Helmets protect the wearer from critical hits. Equip one on every character that can wear it; the to-hit penalty is negligible compared to the protection.
Necklace¶
Ornamental jewelry — silver, gold, platinum, or other precious metals, adorned with gems. Always worn around the neck and can be of any length.
Rings¶
Worn on the fingers and often carry an enchantment. One can be worn on each hand (max two equipped at a time). You may not equip two magic items with similar bonuses — two rings of protection, for instance, will not stack.
