Halfling¶
Halflings are short, generally plump people — very much like small humans. Their faces are round and broad, often quite florid; their hair is typically curly, and the tops of their feet are covered with coarse hair.
Traits¶
- +1 Dexterity, –1 Strength, –1 Wisdom.
- +2 bonus to saving throws vs. paralysis/poison/death, rod/staff/wand, and spells.
- Additional saving-throw bonuses based on Constitution.
- –1 THAC0 with slings (a flat to-hit bonus).
- No standard infravision (see manual note).
Strengths¶
- The same massive magic-defence save bundle dwarves and gnomes enjoy.
- High Dexterity and a sling to-hit bonus make halfling Thieves and Fighter/Thieves nimble missile users.
- Solid Thief picks thanks to Dexterity + save package.
Weaknesses¶
- Strength penalty hurts melee damage and carry weight.
- Wisdom penalty reduces priest spell slots and mind-affecting saves.
- Smaller class roster than humans or half-elves.
