Swashbuckler (Thief Kit)

This rogue is part acrobat, part swordsman, and part wit — the epitome of charm and grace.

Advantages

  • +1 AC at 1st level, plus +1 AC every 5 levels.
  • +1 to-hit and damage every 5 levels.
  • May Specialize (two slots) in any melee weapon available to Thieves.
  • May place 3 slots in Two-Weapon Style.

Disadvantages

  • May not use Backstab ability.

When to pick it

  • A Swashbuckler is the closest a Thief class gets to a true melee combatant — Specialization in long swords or katanas plus three Two-Weapon Style slots delivers serious damage.
  • Without Backstab the kit leans into sustained melee — it loses the burst-damage opener that defines other Thief paths.
